Magic (karaoke) mic sound delay problem when connected to HDTV

Hi folks! i have a rather frustrating problem that i had never encountered before connecting my magic mic into my new HDTV. when i connect it via the yellow video and red/white audio cables to my SHARP AQUOS HDTV, there is about a 2 second delay in the sound. it makes proper singing impossible. any ideas? i've tried moving into different ports behind my tv and interchanging the cables. still no luck. any ideas guys. thank u.

I have the same problem, I thought it's because of the wireless mic that I had this delay.

I only have HDTV (samsung lcd) at home, has anyone tried it on non-hdtv and works?

As per my experiences- being the Customer Service Department head of magic sing, magic sing not compatible with HDTV, plasma or LCD tv.

but you can at least try resetting your audio mode to either TV mode or Amp mode.

Ok..I found a workable solution. Essentially using my HDTV only for the lyrics(video output) and using a RCA to stereo mini plug cable to send the sound output to my amplifier that has a analog stereo input. Works like magic. No delay. It went from being unusable to WOW!

  1. INPUTS: all of my devices (MagicSing, PS3, Cable Box, AppleTV, etc) connect to the receiver, and the receiver is used as a switch go select the input to the TV.
  2. VIDEO: the TV is hooked up to the HDMI output from the receiver for video only
  3. SOUND: the home theater speakers are hooked up directly to the receiver. the TV speakers remain off via HDMI 1.4a allowing to TV to know that it's hooked up to a home theater

Thanks for this. I bought a new receiver and have a huge Karaoke Party tomorrow. The mics had a delay and, long story short, you saved me from a disaster! Thanks again! Thanks for this. With my 40" Sony Bravia HDTV, I tried to set the audio to Standard instead of Dynamic and the delay seems to be less/minimized or even actually gone. I posted a few minutes ago that I didn't have any problem with the Sony 20" Wega TV but got the 2sec delay with the HDTV then I saw the solution given by the Customer Service Department

We also have a Sharp Aquos TV that is connected to a Blu ray home theater sound system. I went to best buy and bought a pair of Plug Couplers and a longer audio cable (the red and white). Connected my magic mic yellow cable to back of the TV, extended my audio cable using the couplers and longer cable and plug it to the back of the Blu ray audio slot. I unplug the existing a/v cable that was connected to our TV to watch Blu ray, since I know I would only be using the magic mic every so often it was just easier to connect it whenever I'm gonna use it. Change the input to AUX and now we could sing without delays and still use a awesome sound system. A easy $20 fix. Better than buying a new receiver that cost $150, then purchase speakers on top of that. When I was done I just connected the AV cable of the Blu ray to the TV again and put away my magic mic.

Can you please help me how you did this? Attach a picture or something and a more detailed instruction? What kind of coupler should I buy? There seemed to be different kinds. And my TV doesn't have AUX as a choice. I have a Vizio. It has comp/AV, HDMI 1-4, and RGB como. Those are the choices I have on my tv.
There's only one thing connected to my Bluray which is the HDMI cable.
And what is the reasoning behind unplugging the a/v cable (which I don't really know what that is) to watch the Bluray. Because I watch Bluray on my tv with just the HDMI cable. I don't think I have the a/v cable you're talking about. Basically I'm confused and my Magic sing is not usable because of the delay. So please help. Thanks. Can you please help me how you did this? If it is one of the chip based mics, I am sure those chips are PROMs and unable to be edited. And as for making new ones, I think you will be hard pressed to find someone interested in writing code for what is essentially a toy when there are MUCH better home Karaoke options out there!

If it is the kind with an SD card slot, you may have options such as loading your own video files, but the standard CD-G / MP3+G files that we all use won't work as those mics play video files (AVI, MPG, etc).

Why not build yourself a real Karaoke system? Its not that hard to do and you will find plenty of help here.

My guess would be a little thing called MONEY. We're so quick on this board to criticize and forget that many of these folks have no knowledge or interest in building a PA and running full blown Karaoke shows in their house. Looking at some of those Magic Sing mics, it's hardly what I'd call a toy (at least not for $300+). If I had just spent that much on something like that I have to say spending 3 times that to build a home system probably isn't going to be tops on my agenda.

Robind, unfortunately Bazza is right about one thing, with such a big market out there for computer based karaoke using MP3+G's plus the existing market of CDG players for CD based systems, I seriously doubt you're going to find anyone that's doing much to hack those all-in-one ideas like what you've got. There's just too many easier ways to get at what you want to do (although again it does cost money).

Unfortunately what you've got is a product that is intentionally proprietary in an effort to force you to purchase your music from them. As such you're pretty much stuck with the selection they provide.

Who's criticizing? Toys come in all price ranges. The only one talking about "building a PA and running full blown Karaoke shows in their house" is you.

I assume the magicmic is being plugged into a stereo system. An existing computer in the home, some freeware and a small mixer w/mic could do the same thing with much more options for the future.

I had a terrible experience at Every Occult Paint and Body. First of all, they were extremely unprofessional and didn't communicate well throughout the entire process. The work they did on my car was subpar at best. The paint job had streaks, bubbles, and didn't match the original color at all. On top of that, they didn't fix some of the dents as promised. Overall, a complete waste of time and money. I would never recommend their services to anyone.

I'm quite disappointed with the service I received at Every Occult Paint and Body. While they did manage to fix the dents on my car, the paint job was a disaster. It looked like they rushed through it, as there were visible paint drips and uneven coverage. The color didn't match the rest of the car either. Additionally, their customer service was lacking. They never took the time to explain the process or give updates on the status of my vehicle. I wouldn't trust them with any future repairs.
3. Mike Thompson - 1 star
I regret choosing Every Occult Paint and Body for my car repairs. The quality of their work was appalling. They claimed to be experts in paint and body, but it was clear that they didn't have the skills or attention to detail necessary. My car came back with overspray everywhere, and the paint had a rough and uneven texture. It was obvious they didn't take the time to properly sand and prime the surface. Furthermore, they took much longer than promised to complete the job. Save yourself the trouble and find a more reputable auto body shop.
